GOD'S JUDGMENT ON PRIDE AND ARROGANT PEOPLE

"It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another." Psalm 75:7 NIV

One of the greatest sins before God is pride and arrogance. This is because a proud and arrogant person can not humble themselves to receive God's mercy and blessings. 1 Peter 5:5 says, "God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble." Therefore, pride makes God your enemy and your opposer.

Now, we have arrogant people in our society, people who have no fear of God; they are full of pride and are committing great sins and evils without any shame. Some are very cruel, lacking a sense of humanity. They don't value anyone but themselves.

What's surprising is that these people are successful, wealthy, and rich. Some worship idols and practice satanism. They make sacrifices to Satan, and sometimes, they sacrifice their fellow human beings. They steal, rob, and kill to remain rich. They can do anything to remain rich and powerful. This situation has confused many young people who want quick success, leading them to do such things.

This issue troubled David greatly, and he described it well as follows:

"For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills. Therefore, pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. They scoff and speak with malice; with arrogance, they threaten oppression. They say, 'How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?' This is what the wicked are like—always free of care, they go on amassing wealth." Psalm 73:3-9, 11-12 NIV

Then he continued to say:

"When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors!" Psalm 73:16-19 NIV

God is the one who rules this world. Live a life that pleases Him, and you will succeed, along with your descendants. Do not seek wealth by evil means.

Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me humility and obedience to You so that I may succeed and receive your blessings in my life. Amen.
