IS GOD WITH YOU?

"Seek [and long for] good and not evil, so that you may live; and so may the Lord God of hosts be with you, just as you have said!" Amos 5:14 (AMP)

Many people claim that God is with them and that He enables them to accomplish things in their lives. However, this is often just a habitual expression, lacking genuine truth. Why do I say this? It’s because many who make such claims neither truly know God nor His character.

The first characteristic of God is holiness. He says in His Word:
"For thus says the high and exalted One, He who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: ‘I dwell on the high and holy place, but also with the contrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to restore the heart of the contrite.’" Isaiah 57:15 (AMP)

Do not let anyone deceive you with empty words, claiming they believe in God and that He is with them when their actions contradict this. Sometimes, it is evident even to us that God cannot be present in certain places or involved in certain actions. For example, there is a tendency many of us might relate to: someone sneaks out of work early and silently prays, "God, help me not to get caught," or someone steals and prays, "God, be with me so I won’t get caught." God cannot be a part of such acts.

This behavior starts with small things and grows into larger issues, leading to a false sense that God is with us in everything we do, even when it dishonors Him. This is a flawed belief.

Today's Word instructs us to seek good so that we may live, and live in his presence. Many lives are in disarray, and people face misfortunes because they lack God’s presence. They assume God is with them, but He is not.

If you desire to truly have God’s presence with you, do good, live a life that pleases Him, and avoid the things He has forbidden. To God, there is no such thing as small or big sins—sin is sin. Our God is holy, and He dwells in a holy place.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to live a life of doing good and walking in holiness so that Your presence will always be with me. Amen.
