LET US WORSHIP OUR KING

And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11 NKJV

This verse from the Gospel of Matthew highlights a profound moment in the Christmas story. The Magi, wise men from the East, travel a great distance following a star to worship the newborn King. Their actions symbolize the true purpose of Christmas: worshipping Christ, the Savior of the world, and honoring Him with our most valuable offerings.

Upon seeing Jesus, the Magi bowed down and worshipped Him. This act of humility reminds us that Christmas is about surrendering ourselves to Christ and acknowledging His Lordship. Worshiping the newborn King involves offering our hearts, lives, and devotion to Him.

Then, they presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh—symbolic offerings that represented Jesus’ royalty, divinity, and sacrificial role. Their giving was not out of obligation but an act of reverence and love. During Christmas, we are reminded to give not for self-gratification but as an act of worship to God, helping those in need and advancing His kingdom.

In today’s world, Christmas is often overshadowed by consumerism, parties, and temporary pleasures. However, the actions of the Magi point us back to the essence of the season: worship and adoration of Christ.

Paul warns in Colossians 3:2, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." Christmas is a call to fix our hearts on heavenly things, rejoicing in the birth of our Savior rather than indulging in fleeting pleasures.

Christmas is not just a holiday; it is a holy day—a time to bow in worship before the King of kings.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, Help me to Worship My King Jesus Christ in spirit and truth. Don’t let me be carried away by earthly pleasures.
