SEEK TRUE JOY AND PEACE
"Laughter may hide sadness. When happiness is gone, sorrow is always there." Proverbs 14:13 GNT
In Proverbs 14:12, it says, "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death." This shows that one of the devil’s greatest strategies, especially in this generation, is to deceive people into thinking certain things are okay and enjoyable because they provide temporary happiness, all while keeping them blind to the eventual consequences.
Our verse today reminds us, "Laughter may hide sadness." Some things can make you feel happy for a short time, distracting you from your troubles, but they don’t solve the root of your problems. Many in today’s society, especially the youth, are going through challenges that have broken their hearts. Many are living with a broken heart. As a result, they turn to temporary pleasures to escape their pain.
God is speaking to you today. Those fleeting pleasures may make you laugh for a moment, but your sorrow remains, as the verse continues, "When happiness is gone, sorrow is always there." After drinking alcohol, sorrow returns. After fornication, grief follows. After a night out with friends, the sadness is still there. If your life is full of regrets and pain caused by these actions, turn to God today.
Jesus Christ is called the Prince of Peace. Don’t think that living a godly life or being saved is outdated or strange. Living a life of integrity, righteousness, and holiness may seem odd to some, but it brings lasting peace. Your plans will succeed, and you will build a strong and happy life.
You will enjoy a peaceful marriage with your spouse and children. You’ll work and earn honestly, and when challenges arise, you’ll call on God, and He will help you. Your life will be fulfilling because you’ll live with confidence, knowing you’re doing the right thing. God will take pride in you and say, “This is my child, living a life of righteousness and holiness.” As a result, He will protect, bless, and guide you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me and give me strength. Today, I turn away from everything that leads to destruction. Holy Spirit, help me. Amen.
