THE CONSEQUENCES OF DEFILING GOD'S TEMPLE — SEXUAL IMMORALITY
"And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit." Ephesians 2:22 (NIV)
Psalm 132:13–15 says, "For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, ‘This is my resting place forever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it. I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor and I will satisfy with food.’"
You are God’s temple. Your body is the place where God desires to dwell. That’s why the Word says, "And in him, you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit." The way you take care of God’s temple determines how God blesses and sustains you.
1 Corinthians 3:17 says, "If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple."
Why Do Some People Struggle in Life Despite them being good people?
Many people today face challenges in life—stagnation, financial difficulties, or unfulfilled plans—even though they are kind, hardworking, and live peacefully with others. They wonder why they don’t prosper despite doing their best.
Often, the enemy blinds people, not seeing that it is wrong to do things with their bodies that go against God’s commands. Without realizing it, they desecrate God’s temple, making themselves enemies of God. As a result, God do to them what he said in his word "If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person."
A Common Cause of Life Stagnation
One major way people desecrate God’s temple is through sexual immorality. Sexual sin has ruined the dreams and visions of many people. God, who grants success, withdraws His presence from them because they have defiled His holy place. According to human Standards, they are good people. They don't have any problems with anyone, but they have a problem with God—Fornication.
It’s not always about curses or doing evil to people; sometimes, a single act of dishonouring God’s temple can bring about unnecessary struggles and ruins into your life.
Take Action Today
Decide today to honour God’s temple—your body. Avoid actions that defile it. The power to overcome temptation is within you when you make a firm decision and seek God’s help. Some people don't know God and have morals. They respect and honour their Bodies, how much more you, who knows God and can you pray?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, you purchased me with Your precious blood. Today, by Your grace, I choose to honour and respect Your temple—my body. Help me to overcome all temptations and remain faithful to You. Amen.
