THE POWER OF MEDITATING ON GOD’S WORD
"He who pays attention to the word [of God] will find good, and blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is he who trusts [confidently] in the Lord." Proverbs 16:20 (AMP)
God told Joshua, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read and meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful." Joshua 1:8 (AMP)
The Book of the Law was the "instruction manual" or the constitution of Israel. These instructions provided guidance for success under God's direct authority. It was vital for Joshua to study and understand what was written in it. However, God gave Joshua an additional task—He commanded him to meditate on the Word day and night and to obey it.
Today’s verse says: "He who pays attention to the word [of God] will find good." Your success is directly tied to how seriously you take God’s Word—meditating on it and obeying it. Since you were created by God, and the entire universe is His creation, you cannot truly understand how to succeed unless you listen to Him.
At certain points in life, you may feel uncertain, unsure of what to do, or have questions with no clear answers. When this happens, your solution is to turn to the Word of God. As you meditate on God’s Word, you gain clarity and insight. This light guides your decisions, helping you do the right thing, which brings blessings and success into your life. Whatever you are going through right now, God has something to say about it, and it is probably good; it is in the Bible, and if you read it, he will guide you to the exact Word you need in your life right now.
Meditating on the Word builds your understanding, and this understanding strengthens your faith. You cannot have faith in something you do not understand. The verse continues: "And blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is he who trusts [confidently] in the Lord." Meditating on God’s Word leads to understanding, understanding builds faith, and faith gives you the boldness to receive anything you need from God.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your Word. I ask for the grace and strength to meditate on it daily so that I may receive Your goodness in my life. Amen.
