THIS IS YOUR CALLING AND YOUR PURPOSE (PART 2)

Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” – Exodus 3:3

Yesterday, we learned how to identify your calling and the purpose for which God created you. We saw that God places a burden in your heart for something before formally calling and sending you to do it.

Today, we look at the life of Moses and the calling he received from God. After Pharaoh’s daughter rescued Moses and raised him, Moses understood that he was an Israelite. The luxury and riches of Pharaoh’s palace could not make him forget who he was. The Word of God says:

"By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin." – Hebrews 11:24-25

Likewise, you, a Child of God, should not let the pleasures and comforts of this world cause you to forget the purpose for which you were created.

Moses faced a great challenge when he tried to help his fellow Israelites. They did not appreciate him; they rejected him and said hurtful words that broke his spirit (Exodus 2:14). Feeling rejected and guilty, Moses fled from Egypt and abandoned his mission.

Moses was meant to deliver Israel from slavery; he carried the burden of the sufferings of his people in his heart since he was young. But because of the wounds of rejection, he decided to be a shepherd and ignore his calling. However, when God appeared to him in the burning bush, Moses made a life-changing decision. He said, “I will turn aside and see.” The burning bush symbolized the suffering of the Israelites—they were in pain, but they were not consumed.

When Moses chose to turn aside, it meant he was ready to pay attention to the suffering of his people once again. Perhaps God has given you a burden for certain people, but they hurt you when you tried to help them. Like Moses, you may have chosen to walk away from their problems, leaving them to suffer—to burn. Today is the time to turn aside from what you are doing and turn back to God's calling. Let go of the pain and unforgiveness in your heart and fulfill God’s calling.

Experiencing hurt from the people God has sent you to help is part of your calling. Do not let it discourage you or fill you with hatred and bitterness. Continue to do good, because that is your mission, and God will reward you in heaven.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me for abandoning Your work because I was hurt by the people you sent me to. Today, I turn back and commit myself to Your calling. Help me to let go of my pain and continue serving You faithfully. Amen.
