WALKING AS JESUS WALKED
"He who says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. 1 John 2:6 RSV"
Walking as Jesus walked means living in a way that reflects His actions and character. In 1 John 2:6, the Bible tells us that if we say we follow Jesus, our lives should look like His. It’s not just about saying we believe in Him; it’s about showing it through how we live. Jesus showed us how to obey God and love others, and we are called to do the same.
You can’t just say you follow Jesus; you must live like Him too. This applies to every part of life, but especially to your spiritual life. What does it mean to "live the way Jesus lived"? While some might think it’s about performing miracles, it’s really about living a life of love and obedience, just as Jesus did.
From a young age, Jesus obeyed God in everything. He followed God’s plan, even when it was hard. When He was popular, He didn’t stay in one place to enjoy the attention; He went where God sent Him. When people criticized Him for following God, He didn’t stop. Even when Satan tempted Him with power and riches, He refused.
Jesus’ ultimate act of obedience was going to the cross. Even when faced with unimaginable pain, He prayed, “Not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). This shows us that obedience to God sometimes requires sacrifice, but it always leads to His greater purpose.
Jesus loved everyone, especially those who were rejected by society. He cared for the poor, the sick, the lonely, and those others ignored. He showed kindness to prostitutes, tax collectors, lepers, and many others who needed His love.
When we live as Jesus lived, we stop focusing on ourselves and start focusing on God’s plans. We begin to notice people who need love and kindness, and we show them the same love Jesus showed.
Prayer: Dear God, Thank You for showing me how to live through Jesus. Help me to follow His example by obeying You and loving others. Thank You for guiding me each day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
