DISCOVER YOUR CALLING AND HOW TO SERVE GOD
"Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called." — 1 Corinthians 7:20 (NKJV)
This verse teaches you one crucial thing—you can serve God right where you are. When Paul says to "remain in the same calling," he means that you should continue in your profession, as long as it is honorable and brings glory to God.
God’s calling in your life is not limited to pulpit ministry alone; it is also connected to the skills and knowledge He has given you. You were created with a unique purpose, and whatever you do diligently and effectively is a sign of your calling.
One of the biggest challenges for many Christians today is not knowing their calling. Some dedicate all their time to church activities, forgetting that their daily work is also a way to serve God. Others abandon their professions, thinking that the only way to serve God is through preaching or spending all their time in prayer. But that is not true.
God has indeed called some people to be pastors, evangelists, and teachers of the Word, but He has also called others to be doctors, teachers, businesspeople, craftsmen, and farmers. God wants you to serve Him wherever you are.
If you are a doctor, every time you go to work, you fulfill God’s calling by caring for people’s lives. If you are a teacher, you shape and prepare the next generation with wisdom and knowledge. If you are a businessperson, you contribute to society’s progress and help others earn a living.
It is important to recognize that your job is not serving the devil—if you do it faithfully and with the fear of God, it is a service to the Lord.
God is sending you a message today: "Stay where you are; He has a purpose for you there." Serving God does not always mean standing at the pulpit to preach—you can serve Him by working diligently, honestly, and with a heart of worship.
Therefore, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you how you can serve God in your profession. Your calling is part of God’s plan for your life. Learn to live it faithfully and serve God wherever He has placed you.
Prayer: Lord God, I thank You for calling me for a special purpose. I pray that Your Holy Spirit will guide me to discover my calling and serve You faithfully wherever You have placed me. Fill me with wisdom and grace so that everything I do will bring You glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Amen
