YOUR WORDS CAN BUILD OR DESTROY YOUR LIFE
"Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips." (Psalm 141:3, NKJV)
These words from David reveal an important truth about the power of your tongue. You need God's help to control the words that come out of your mouth. Every word you speak carries power—it can either build or destroy. Your words can bring success or push you backward. That’s why it’s important to ask God for wisdom so that every word you speak is beneficial, not destructive.
God has placed great power in the words we speak. Your tongue is like a key to your life. When you speak with faith, you build a bright future. When you speak with fear, complaints, or negativity, you open the door to destruction.
In the Scriptures, God heard the words of the Israelites when they were in the wilderness and received reports that the Promised Land was filled with strong and mighty people. Instead of trusting in God's power, they complained, saying it would have been better to die in Egypt or the wilderness. God was angered by their words. They forgot the miracles He had performed for them—such as parting the Red Sea and providing manna. As a result, many of them perished in the wilderness, and their generation did not enter the Promised Land (Numbers 14:1-30).
This is a great lesson for you. You must be careful with every word you speak. Do not allow words of complaint, fear, or doubt to come out of your mouth. Instead, learn to speak words of faith, gratitude, and humility. Recognize God's goodness in your life, even when facing challenges. Say, “Lord, I thank You for my life, for Your grace and the opportunities I have, and for Your protection.” These words can change your destiny because your life is shaped by your words.
Choose today to speak words that build, bless, and bring life. Avoid words of curses, despair, complaints, or death. Use your tongue wisely, and you will see positive results in your life.
Prayer: O Lord, help me to speak words of wisdom and gratitude. Teach me to see Your goodness every day and to speak words of faith and hope. Thank You for Your grace and for guiding me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
