CALLED TO SERVE
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." – Mark 10:45 (NKJV)
As Christians, our lives are a calling, and this calling is just like the one Jesus had. He said, "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." – John 20:21 So we must follow Jesus and do what He did during His time of service on earth.
As we reflect on Jesus during this Easter season, we see how obedient He was to His Father, who is also our God and Father. Just as He said, "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve," we too are called to live in the same way.
What I want you to think about and act on this Easter is: to serve others and give yourself for their sake. Today, some servants of God have changed the true meaning of the Gospel. Their lives do not reflect this message at all. Instead of serving, they want others to serve them. They live in selfishness and show off, without caring for those in need.
This does not mean serving God means being poor or having nothing. No! I want you to know that the money and riches God has given you are so you can be a blessing to others—especially to help those in need. We are also serving God's kingdom, so you must use your resources and abilities to do God’s work.
Jesus Christ gave Himself for us. He left His throne and glory and accepted to die on the cross for us. In the same way, we should also give ourselves for others. Help them with whatever God has blessed you with.
So this Easter, do something for God’s kingdom and for someone who is in need. But more importantly, change your lifestyle completely. Stop being selfish. Know that you are here on earth to help others with the gift, talent, or ability that God gave you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for showing us an example of giving and serving. Please give me that same spirit in my heart.
