LIFE IN THE BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS (BENEFITS OF TAKING THE HOLY COMMUNION)
"Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:54
Let me start by telling you this: make sure you do not miss this holy service today — the Holy Communion service. Many churches are holding this service today. If your church is not having it today, make sure you attend and take part on the day it is held.
Now, today I want you to understand why Jesus told us to eat His body and drink His blood. Also, I want you to know the benefits of taking this Holy Sacrament.
Here are the reasons and benefits:
1. We enter and celebrate the covenant of salvation and eternal life.
When we take this Holy Sacrament, we are agreeing and accepting the covenant that Jesus died and gave His life (His Body and Blood) so we can have eternal life. This is the main reason Jesus came to earth — so that you may have eternal life and on the last day, He will raise you up and take you to heaven.
"John 6:54 — Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
"Luke 22:20 — In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.’"
2. We eat His body and drink His blood to be united in spirit with Him.
This means we live in Him, and He lives in us. John 6:56 says "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him."
3. To receive life and healing in our physical bodies.
There are two things I want you to see: eternal life and life in your physical body (your health). When you eat the Body and drink the Blood of Jesus, you receive both — eternal life and life in your body. You become strong, and death and sickness leave your body. You are made alive and well through the power of Christ. John 6:57 says "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me."
4. We take this Sacrament because it is a command from our Lord Jesus Christ.
He told us to do this in remembrance of Him. Luke 22:19 says "And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’" When we take this Sacrament, we remember that Jesus died for us on the cross to set us free from all bondage of sin and death.
There are many more benefits, but these are the most important. So make sure you don’t miss this special service of Holy Communion.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank You for giving Your Body and Your Blood so I can be saved from the bondage of sin and death, and have life and eternal life.
