PERSECUTION" THE COST OF FOLLOWING JESUS
God’s Word in 2 Timothy 3:12 says:
"Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution."This scripture clearly shows that anyone who chooses to follow Jesus wholeheartedly cannot avoid prosecution and opposition. Following Jesus is not an easy journey; it is a call to commit faithfully to God, even in the face of trials. This happens because we are in the middle of a battle between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. Satan and his agents resist every effort a believer makes to live righteously, so attacks and challenges are normal for those who believe in Christ.
Jesus Himself warned us about this. In John 17, He prayed to the Father to protect us from the Evil One because we do not belong to this world. This world will not love you because you have chosen to follow truth and righteousness. You must understand that when you stand for what is right, there will be people who will hate and oppose you without reason. Isaiah 53 says that even Jesus Himself was rejected and despised, so do not be surprised when you are despised for following Christ.
The word "persecution" in 2 Timothy 3:12 refers to being accused, opposed, or even physically harmed for your faith. Therefore, when you experience opposition, criticism, or suffering, do not be afraid or discouraged, for God is with you. In Mark 10:29-30, Jesus promised that no one who follows Him will lose everything; instead, they will receive a hundredfold in this life—along with persecutions—and in the end, eternal life. This confirms that suffering is part of the Christian journey, but God comforts and heals our hearts when we are wounded.
Do not allow hatred, persecution, or opposition to discourage you in your faith. Psalm 23 says that God will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. This means that enemies will always be there, but God will bless and uplift you. The key is to pray that God gives you patience so that you are not hurt by the words or actions of those who oppose you.
Prayer: O God, I ask You to give me strength and courage to serve You even in the midst of trials. Grant me Your peace and a heart to forgive those who oppose me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
