YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO DO GOD'S WILL
"Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: Thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness." (Psalm 143:10, NKJV)
This scripture teaches that not everyone knows God's will for their life. David prayed for God to teach him, knowing that without divine guidance, he could not walk in the right path. This means that even if you have a desire to serve God, you still need His direction to walk in His ways correctly. Only God knows His purpose for your life, and it is only through His help that you can fulfill it.
There are three key things in life that you must consider:
1. Knowing God's Purpose for Your Life
God has a special plan for your life, and it is your responsibility to seek Him so that He can reveal it to you. Many people struggle because they do not know why they are on earth. But God did not create you without a reason; He has placed a great purpose within you.
2. Understanding How to Fulfill God's Purpose
Knowing God's purpose alone is not enough. You also need to understand how to fulfill it. Moses knew that God had chosen him to deliver the Israelites, but he did not know how. At first, he tried using his own wisdom by killing an Egyptian (Exodus 2:11-12), but he failed. When God appeared to him, He showed him the right way to fulfill that purpose—not through physical battles, but through signs and miracles.
3. Being Led and Empowered by God to Fulfill His Purpose
Even after knowing God's purpose and how to fulfill it, you still need His help. Moses was not expected to accomplish his task by his own strength but through God's power. That is why God assured him that He would be with him and send His angel ahead of him. Likewise, to effectively fulfill God's will, you need the power of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, pray that God teaches you, leads you, and strengthens you. Do not rely on your own understanding, but allow Him to show you the right path and empower you to walk in it. David's prayer in Psalm 143:10 teaches that only by being taught by God can you walk in righteousness and succeed in whatever He calls you to do.
Prayer: My God, teach me to do Your will. Show me Your purpose for my life and lead me in the right path. Give me the power of Your Holy Spirit so that I may fulfill all that You have destined for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
