DEALING WITH THE FLESH

Galatians 5:24 says, “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

This verse opens our eyes to a serious truth—dealing with the flesh is our personal responsibility. The scripture does not say, “God crucified their flesh.” It clearly says, “they have crucified the flesh.” This shows that God has given every believer the authority and the responsibility to put to death the sinful desires of the flesh.

When you came to Christ, God gave you a new heart and placed His Spirit in you. But the old nature—the flesh—is still present, and it desires to pull you back into sin. You are the one who must choose to deny the flesh and live by the Spirit. God will not make that decision for you. However, He has not left you alone. The same Holy Spirit who raised Christ from the dead now lives in you. When you decide to surrender and allow Him, He will help you mortify the evil desires in your body.

Romans 8:13 says, “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” The flesh will always desire things that are against the Spirit—pride, jealousy, lust, anger, greed. These things make us enemies of God and lead to death. But the Spirit brings life, peace, and righteousness.

Today, make a clear decision. Choose to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh. Surrender your body, mind, and desires to Jesus Christ. Let Him take full control of your life so that you may walk like Christ and reflect His nature in all things. Do not give your flesh a place to dominate you. Nail it to the cross daily. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you, to guide you, and to transform your desires.

A Christlike life is possible when you choose to crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I surrender my flesh to You. Help me walk by Your Spirit and live a life that pleases You.
