LET YOUR LOVE BE GUIDED BY WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE
In Philippians 1:9 (NKJV), the Bible says, "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment."
This scripture teaches us that love should not just grow in quantity, but in knowledge and discernment. In other words, love must be guided by wisdom and understanding—not just emotions or feelings.
Love is a precious gift. Whether it is in marriage, friendships, or caring for others, you must handle love with caution. Not everyone deserves your love. Only those who value, honor, and respect your love are worthy of receiving it. If you give your heart to people without wisdom, you may end up deeply hurt. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:6 not to cast your pearls before swine, because they will trample them and then turn to harm you. Your love is a pearl—don’t give it to those who will misuse it.
Many people think love is only about emotions, but true love is more than feelings. It involves thinking, assessing, and deciding carefully. Emotions can be misleading. The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” That’s why you should not simply "follow your heart." That phrase is not from God—it’s human advice that can lead you into pain and trouble.
Before entering into any relationship, you must pray for wisdom and knowledge. Use your mind, listen to the Holy Spirit, and observe the character of the person. Ask yourself: Does this person fear God? Do they respect love? Are they honest and committed?
Let the Holy Spirit be your guide. When you allow God to direct your steps, He will protect you from wrong relationships and heartbreak. Trust Him, seek His wisdom, and He will show you who is worth your love.
Prayer: Lord, give me wisdom, knowledge, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance to love rightly and protect my heart from harm. Amen.
