MINISTRY OF ANGELS Part 2 – Ministering Spirits

“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14, NKJV)

This verse opens a deep truth about the invisible help God provides for His children. The word "angel" comes from the Greek word angels, meaning “messenger.” Angels are divine messengers and servants of God, created to serve His purpose, especially in relation to His people. According to Hebrews 1:14, all angels are ministering spirits—sent by God to serve, help, and strengthen those who are heirs of salvation.

Angels are not to be worshiped, and they do not act on their own will. They move in obedience to God's commands. Their ministry includes protection, provision, guidance, and delivering divine messages. Throughout Scripture, we see how angels appear during critical moments to serve God’s people.

A powerful example is found in 1 Kings 19. The prophet Elijah had just faced a great victory on Mount Carmel against the prophets of Baal. Yet soon after, he was overwhelmed with fear and discouragement when Queen Jezebel threatened to kill him. Elijah fled into the wilderness, sat under a broom tree, and asked God to let him die. But God had another plan.

As Elijah slept, “an angel touched him, and said to him, ‘Arise and eat.’” (1 Kings 19:5, NKJV). He looked, and there was a cake baked on coals and a jar of water. He ate and lay down again. The angel came a second time, touched him again and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” (v.7). This divine intervention gave Elijah strength to go on for forty days and forty nights to Mount Horeb.

This story shows the heart of God. When His servant was weak, He did not scold him—He sent help. The angel’s ministry was not flashy or dramatic. It was simple, quiet, and life-saving. God still ministers this way today. We may not always see them, but angels are at work, carrying out God’s assignments for our protection, comfort, and victory.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for sending angels to help me. Strengthen me daily and let Your help surround me in Jesus’ name.
