BOASTING IN THE GOODNESS OF OUR GOD

Jeremiah 9:23–24 (NKJV) declares: “Thus says the Lord: ‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,’ says the Lord.”

These verses are a powerful reminder that human wisdom, strength, and wealth are not the true sources of our confidence. In a world that celebrates achievement, status, and material success, God calls His people to boast in something entirely different—the knowledge of who He is. He doesn't delight in our bank accounts or physical power. He finds joy in those who know Him personally and understand His nature.

God is loving and kind, always showing mercy to the undeserving. He is righteous, always doing what is right, and He exercises judgment with fairness and truth. To know these truths about God gives us real strength. It lifts us above our circumstances and silences the lies of the enemy. When trouble comes, when resources fail, or when we face opposition, what keeps us standing is not our own ability—it is the unwavering confidence that our God is with us, and He is good.

Boasting in God is not prideful in the sinful sense; it is the expression of a heart that has seen the beauty and faithfulness of the Lord and can’t help but rejoice in Him. This kind of boasting pleases God because it shows that our hearts are aligned with His. We honor Him when we proclaim His goodness in our lives—when we say, "God is my strength, my joy, my portion forever."

When we boast in knowing God, we point others to Him. Our lives become testimonies of His power, not ours. And in this, God is glorified. He takes pleasure when His children are proud of who He is and are not ashamed to speak of His lovingkindness, righteousness, and justice.

Prayer: Lord, help me to know You deeply and boast in Your goodness. Be my strength, joy, and confidence always. Amen.
