HYPOCRITICAL LOVE DETEST GOD

Romans 12:9 (NCV) says, “Your love must be real. Hate what is evil, and hold on to what is good.”

This verse exposes the heart of God regarding love. Love must be real—sincere, pure, and from the heart. It must not be fake or pretended. True love is sacrificial, meaning you give your time, honor, and affection to another—not because it benefits you, but because you truly care.

The Bible teaches us not to love in words alone, but also in actions. These actions are not just kind gestures—they are deeds of honor. When you honor someone, you are saying, "I see value in you." Sadly, many people pretend to love or care for others, not because they really do, but because they want to avoid hurting someone's feelings. While it may seem kind, it's actually dangerous and hypocritical.

In many relationships today, someone starts with genuine feelings but later sees traits or behaviors they cannot accept. Maybe the person breaks their trust, and the love fades. Instead of being honest, they keep up the act—smiling, texting sweet words, even making future plans—all while their heart is no longer in it. Romans 12:9 challenges us: “Let love be without hypocrisy.” If your heart is no longer in it, say the truth. Don’t lead the other person on. Don’t give them false hope. One day they’ll discover the truth, and it will hurt them more deeply than honesty ever would.

Jesus said, “The truth will set you free.” Pretending to love someone is emotional slavery. How long will you stay stuck out of fear of public opinion or guilt? Do yourself and the other person a favor—be truthful. Speak in love, but be clear. Everyone deserves true love and happiness, including you.

However, if you are married, love is not a choice—it is a command. Even when your spouse has hurt you, you must work to resolve the pain and rebuild love. Marriage is a covenant. God calls us to love deeply and forgive freely. Hypocritical love has no place in a godly marriage. Whether in dating or marriage, God wants us to love sincerely and live in peace as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Prayer: Lord, help me love sincerely, speak truthfully, and walk in honor. Cleanse my heart from hypocrisy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
