YOUR PURPOSE IS TO SERVE OTHERS
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” — Galatians 5:13 (NKJV)
God has saved us by His grace and given us freedom in Christ. But this freedom is not a license to live selfishly. Galatians 5:13 clearly tells us that we are called to liberty, but we must not use our freedom to please our own desires. Instead, we are called to use our freedom to serve others with love.
When God blesses you with life, knowledge, money, or gifts, He expects you to use them to lift others. Jesus, our perfect example, came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). He spent His life helping the poor, healing the sick, and preaching hope. If you are a follower of Christ, your purpose is to serve others just as He did.
In Philippians 2:3-4, the Bible says, “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” This teaches us that we must think beyond ourselves. Real greatness is found in how we treat and care for others.
Romans 12:10-11 also reminds us: “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” When we serve others, we are also serving God.
Your talents, time, and treasures are tools. Use them to encourage the weak, lift the fallen, and guide the lost. Serving others is not always easy, but it brings true joy and eternal rewards.
Prayer: Lord, help me to use my life and freedom to serve others with love. Amen.
