DO NOT LIVE TO PLEASE PEOPLE

Galatians 1:10 NKJV "For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ."

Apostle Paul draws a clear line between pleasing men and serving Christ. He knew that the Gospel message often offended people, but his loyalty was to God. To be a true servant of Christ, one must stop living for people’s approval and live only for God’s approval. Pleasing people and pleasing God are two different paths. When you try to live for people’s praise, you lose focus on God. But when you live for God, you gain eternal purpose and true freedom.

If you want to live for God, do not live to please men. Living to impress people will keep you from following Christ. The path of Jesus is different from the path of man. You cannot serve two masters; you must choose one.

Your life belongs to God, not to people’s opinions. Whether others like your choices or not should not move you, as long as you are obeying God. Remember this truth: you cannot please everyone. No matter how much you sacrifice for people, some will still complain.

Even your family and friends may not understand the calling God has placed on your life. If you waste time trying to make them agree with you, you will not fulfill God’s will. Jesus Himself faced this. When He spoke of His coming death, Peter and the disciples opposed Him. If He had listened to them, He would not have fulfilled God’s plan. They only understood after the resurrection.

Likewise, do not expect people to understand your walk with God immediately. Some may understand you latter other will never understand your calling. Your focus must remain on pursuing God’s will and pleasing Him alone.

Prayer: Lord, help me to live for You alone and not seek to please men.
