THE WAY UP IS DOWN
1 Peter 5:6 (NKJV) says; "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time."
The secret of rising in life is Humility. The Bible tells us to humble ourselves before the mighty hand of God. Humility means lowering ourselves, admitting our weakness, and depending on God fully. When we do this, God Himself takes the responsibility of lifting us. Notice the words “in due time”. It means that God has His own timing. Sometimes we may want to rise quickly, but God knows the right time for our promotion. Humility is not weakness but trust in God’s process.
If you want God to transform you and increase you, if you want to break every curse and limitation in your life, your family, or even your nation, you must be humble. God Himself takes responsibility for lifting the humble. You cannot change yourself, you cannot lift yourself up.
We are learning about moving towards perfection. Growth is a process and maturity is a process. If you want to go far in your career, ministry, or business, humility is the key. If you want to be different from your family members, if you want to do something extraordinary and live beyond the standard of your forefathers, you must humble yourself before God.
The greatest example is Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:5–9 (NKJV) says: “...He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him...” His humility led to His highest exaltation.
David is another example. Though he was anointed king, he remained humble and served Saul faithfully. He waited for God’s timing, and in due time, he was lifted from being a shepherd boy to the throne of Israel.
Humility is not weakness—it is strength under control. In God’s kingdom, the way up is down. When we humble ourselves before God and others, He Himself will lift us to places pride can never take us.
Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in humility and trust Your perfect timing for my lifting.
