GATEWAYS OF SATANIC COVENANTS – THE DOCTRINE OF BALAAM
Revelation 2:14 (GNT) says, “But there are a few things I have against you: there are some among you who follow the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak how to lead the people of Israel into sin by persuading them to eat food that had been offered to idols and to practice sexual immorality.”
In this Bible verse, it is Jesus Himself speaking. I want this to be clear because some preachers and pastors often take certain Bible scriptures and say, “This was said by Apostle Paul,” or, “This was said by Apostle John or David.” They do this to undermine the authority of the Word of God and to justify their evil acts. One example of such deception is the case of Balaam.
Let me explain what happened in Numbers 25. Balaam managed to deceive the Israelites by convincing them that eating food offered to idols was not a problem, and that attending the Moabite feasts was harmless. However, behind their backs, Balaam secretly advised Balak, the king of Moab, to cast spells on the food that the Israelites would eat during those feasts. They made incantations and evil recitations over that food so that whoever ate it would fall into fornication and end up worshipping Baal of Peor.
The Israelites didn’t know what had been done to that food, but they ate it anyway because Balaam had indoctrinated them, making them believe it had no spiritual effect.
In the same way today, some preachers encourage people to eat food offered during traditional rituals or to attend ungodly parties. They claim that the blood of Jesus sanctifies every food and even quote the scripture that says, “We shall eat poison and it will not harm us.” What they fail to explain is that this scripture was meant for missionaries and apostles who preached the Gospel in hostile environments, where wicked people tried to kill them through poisoned food.
But the same Jesus, in the New Testament, did not tell the church in Pergamos to sanctify such food with His blood. Instead, He rebuked them for their compromise because these acts were a trap to bind their souls in demonic covenants.
Therefore, if you have been deceived by the doctrine of Balaam, repent and stop immediately. Do not attend unholy parties or eat food that you know has been part of rituals to false gods. This is what Jesus calls sin, and He warns His people to turn away from it.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my eyes, purify my heart, and protect me from every satanic deception. Amen.
