HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS YOU TO LIVE OUT YOUR TRUE IDENTITY
Romans 8:11 NKJV says, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives inside every believer. His presence is not passive. He is active, powerful, and life-giving. He strengthens your body, renews your mind, and empowers you to live the life God designed for you. The resurrection power of God is not only a future hope but a present reality working in you every day.
Jesus Himself explained the tension we face when He said, “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). This shows that even when your spirit desires to obey God, your flesh can pull you in the opposite direction. Your flesh becomes the greatest enemy to your spiritual identity. It fights against God’s will, God’s purpose, and God’s calling for your life.
Your true identity is not in your flesh but in your spirit. The Bible clearly teaches this conflict: “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish” (Galatians 5:17 ). This is why many people struggle to live out what they know God has called them to be. Their spirit desires holiness, love, purity, and obedience, but the flesh resists.
Your identity is always revealed by your actions. You cannot claim to be something while living the opposite. A person cannot claim to be righteous while walking in unrighteousness. Your lifestyle becomes the evidence of who you truly are.
The work of the Holy Spirit is to bring life to your mortal body by destroying every evil fleshly desire. He empowers you to resist sin, to walk in purity, and to desire what pleases God. The Holy Spirit brings your body into submission so that you follow the things of the Spirit and not the things of the flesh. As this happens, your true identity as a son or daughter of God becomes visible. When the Holy Spirit helps you overcome weaknesses and live a holy life, your life brings glory to God.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, empower my life and help me live out my true identity in God.
