KNOW YOUR IDENTITY AND FIND YOUR WORTH

Isaiah 43:4 NKJV says, “Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you. Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.”

This verse is God’s voice speaking directly to the heart of a wounded person. God is saying that before anyone formed an opinion about you, He already knew your value. Before anyone judged you, rejected you, or mistreated you, God had already marked you as precious. The word precious means treasured, valued, loved, and highly important. God sees worth in you that no human eye can fully understand. When He says, “You have been honored,” He is showing that He places dignity and glory on your life, even when people try to strip it away. And when He says, “I have loved you,” He makes it clear that His love is the true source of your identity.

The phrase “Since you were precious in My sight” reveals that God is the only One who truly knows our value. Many of us spend our lives trying to find our worth in the wrong places. We try to find value in people’s approval, in relationships, in status, or in success. But when you expect wrong people to tell you who you are, you will never understand your identity or your worth. People change, but God never changes. People judge from the outside, but God sees the truth inside.

I once met a woman who came to me for prayer. She looked at me and said, “You are the last person I will talk to. If you give me the same answer others gave me, I will commit suicide.” She felt she had no reason to live. Everyone around her had rejected her. Her family and her spiritual leaders pressured her to marry a man who was a minister. But just days before the wedding, she discovered the truth. He was a liar and an abuser. When she reported it, church leadership told her she must marry first and solve problems later. She obeyed, and the abuse continued. When she tried to seek help from family and pastors, they all blamed her. After the marriage broke, her pastor told her she was arrogant, wicked, and cursed. He even told her that if she married another man, her future children would be cursed. Her mother said she brought shame to the family. Because of all this, she believed she had no worth and no future.

But God says, “You are precious in My sight.” When people crush your value, turn to God. When surroundings push you to see yourself as nothing, look to God who calls you loved. People value you only when you meet their needs, but God values you because He created you. Today, stop searching for your worth in wrong places and return to the One who knows your true value.

Prayer: Lord, help me see my worth in You and never in people again.
