THE HOLY SPIRIT’S ROLE IN HELPING YOU KNOW YOUR IDENTITY

 Romans 8:16 (NKJV) says: “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” 


This is one of the most powerful verses in the Bible about who we really are. It is not something we feel only when everything is going well. It is not a feeling that comes and goes. The Holy Spirit Himself, the third Person of the Trinity, steps into our hearts and speaks directly to our own spirit. He says clearly, “You belong to God. You are His child.” This is a divine testimony, a heavenly certificate that cannot be canceled by anyone.

He Reveals That You Are a Child of God
The moment you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside you and testifies directly to your spirit that you belong to God. This is not just a doctrine you learn in church; it is an inner knowing, a deep assurance the Holy Spirit gives you: “You are not an orphan, not a failure, not defined by your past—you are God’s dearly loved child.”

The issue of our identity is a controversial matter. Your old nature, painful memories, people who hurt you, and forces of darkness will argue against it every day. They will shout, “You are not good enough! Look at your mistakes!” But the Holy Spirit steps in as the final witness in this court case. His voice is stronger than every lie.

So stop looking only at your circumstances and your weaknesses. Accept the testimony of the Holy Spirit. Deep inside you are a different person—the real you is a child of the King.

Now you need to make that identity manifest. Speak it. Live it. Pray it. Act like the son or daughter of God that you already are, because the Holy Spirit has already signed the papers.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, keep telling my heart every day: I am a child of God. I believe You. Amen.

MISPLACED FEAR

Matthew 10:28  (NKJV) says: “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”   This is a direct call from Jesus to correct our fears. Many people fear human threats, sickness, poverty, storms, or death. Yet Jesus reminds us that these things can only touch the body. The true danger is sin, because it separates us from God and leads to eternal destruction.
