“JESUS CHRIST THE SAVIOR, WHO SAVES US FROM ALL EVIL.”
John 4:42 records a powerful confession from the people of Samaria. They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world.”
This statement shows a move from secondhand faith to personal conviction. They did not depend only on another person’s testimony. They encountered Jesus for themselves. Through hearing Him, they recognized His identity and mission. Jesus was not only a teacher or prophet to them. He was revealed as the Savior of the world.
This means His saving work is not limited by tribe, nation, or background. He came for all people. True faith is born when a person personally meets Christ and understands that He alone has the power to save.
Luke 2:10 -11 tells us about the announcement of Jesus’ birth. The angel spoke words of comfort and joy, saying that a Savior was born, who is Christ the Lord.
From the beginning, Jesus was clearly identified as a Savior. Christmas is not only about celebration. It is a reminder that God sent help to humanity. The birth of Jesus was God’s answer to fear, sin, and separation. The good news is for all people, meaning no one is excluded from His saving grace.
Jesus Christ is the Savior. Biblically, a Savior is one who rescues, delivers, redeems, and restores. Matthew reminded us that Jesus was named so because He would save His people from their sins. Sin brings danger, bondage, and destruction. Jesus saves us by removing us from that danger. He breaks the power of sin and restores us to life and fellowship with God.
Evil, in the Bible, has two clear meanings. First, it is a heart and life direction that opposes God’s will and righteousness. Second, it is anything bad that causes harm, pain, sorrow, destruction, or death. This includes suffering such as diseases and accidents.
When Jesus taught us to pray, He said we should ask to be delivered from evil. This shows that evil is real, but also that deliverance is available. Jesus, the One who was born, is the Savior who rescues us from sin, from evil, and from its effects. In Him, we have hope, safety, and eternal life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, our Savior, deliver us from all evil and lead us into Your life.
