Humility is the Key to Receiving God’s Promises

"No one is respected unless he is humble; arrogant people are on the way to ruin. Proverbs 18:12 GNT"

The Word of God places great emphasis on the issue of humility because it is one of the most important criteria that can enable you to receive something from God. Moreover, being humble will bring you many benefits, such as the following:

1. Favour from God:
Humility is the criterion for receiving God's grace and favor. James 4:6 says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." This grace can manifest in various ways, including spiritual and economic growth, wisdom, and blessings.

2. Wisdom and Knowledge:
Proverbs 11:2 says, "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Wisdom brings you humility, and humility enables you to learn and receive knowledge from God and others.

3. Honor and Exaltation:
When you are humble, God will honor you. People may look down on you and mistreat you for a time, but God will lift you up and place you above them. As today’s scripture in Proverbs 18:12 says, "...before honor is humility."

4. Good Relationships and Peace:
Humility builds good relationships, peace, and unity, starting in marriage, family, at work, and within the community you live in. Ephesians 4:2-3 encourages us to be "completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."

5. Humility enables you to do God’s will:
Humility helps you lower yourself and do what God wants you to do. In Philippians 2:5-9, Jesus, in His humility, accepted to relinquish His glory and do God’s will, and then He was highly exalted and greatly honored.

6. Spiritual Growth:
Humility is essential for spiritual growth. It causes a person to acknowledge their weaknesses and seek help and strength from God. Isaiah 57:15 shows that God dwells with the humble and revives them.

Humility is not just a moral issue but is the key that enables you to access God's presence, blessings, and a fulfilling life according to the promises God has made to humble people.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I ask that you grant me humility in my heart so that I may receive your blessings and live a life of peace and honor. Amen.
