GOD DESIRES OBEDIENCE OVER SACRIFICE

"To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." – Proverbs 21:3 (NKJV)

Do you ever feel like you need to do more to earn God’s approval? Many people rely on religious rituals to feel close to God, but the Bible teaches that true righteousness comes from obedience, not outward sacrifice.

Many people fall into the trap of thinking they can win God’s favor by making offerings, giving tithes, or performing religious acts while neglecting the true essence of righteousness—living a life of integrity, love, and justice. The Bible makes it clear that God is not pleased with mere external acts of worship if they are not accompanied by a righteous heart.

Righteousness is not something you can buy or achieve through human effort but is a divine gift given through faith in Jesus Christ. You cannot buy God’s righteousness through charitable deeds, church attendance, or large financial contributions while continuing to live in disobedience. God is looking for hearts that are surrendered to Him, walking in truth and justice.

To truly embrace God’s righteousness, you must do the following

1. Seek God’s Kingdom First – "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." – Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
2. Walk in Justice and Mercy – "He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" – Micah 6:8 (NKJV)
2. Receive Christ’s Righteousness – "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." – 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

God’s righteousness is not for sale. It cannot be earned through religious acts but is given freely to those who trust in Him and live according to His ways.

Take a moment to examine your heart: Are you truly seeking God’s righteousness through obedience, or are you relying on religious acts to feel close to Him? Choose today to live a life of faith, integrity, and justice, knowing that God delights in a heart that obeys Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your righteousness, which is given through faith and not by works. Help me to live a life that reflects Your justice, love, and mercy. May my worship be sincere, and may my actions align with Your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
