The woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years does not speak to Jesus. She does not cry out. She does not beg. She does not interrupt Him. Her faith is silent, inward, determined, yet intensely alive. “For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.’” (v.28) She does not say, “If Jesus speaks to me.” She does not say, “If Jesus looks at me.” She does not say, “If He lays hands on me.” She says: “If only I may touch…” This is a deep level of faith— a faith that does not depend on public attention, on words, or on ritual.
