RELATIONSHIP WITH RIGHT PEOPLE
Proverbs 14:7 (GNT) says, “Stay away from foolish people; they have nothing to teach you.”
This verse is a clear and loving warning from God. God is not being harsh; He is being protective. He knows that the people you stay close to will shape your thinking, your choices, and your future. When God tells you to stay away from foolish people, it is because He wants to protect your life and your destiny.
A fool is a person who acts without wisdom, judgment, or prudence. They make decisions without thinking about consequences. They often act recklessly, lack common sense, and are easily deceived. A fool may also behave in a silly, careless, or thoughtless way. Such a person does not learn from correction and does not value wisdom. Being close to them may feel fun, but it is dangerous.
Today’s word is a warning. God says foolish people “have nothing to teach you.” This means there is no profit in learning from them. Stop for a moment and examine your friendships. Ask yourself, What am I learning from my friends? Are they helping you grow, or are they pulling you down? You can be close to someone for years and still learn nothing useful from them.
What God is saying is this: what you learn from a fool has no value. And what has no value will eventually destroy you. The Bible warns us, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’” (1 Corinthians 15:33, NIV). It also says, (*“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm”** (Proverbs 13:20, ESV). These verses clearly show that relationships affect our lives deeply.
God cares about your friends and the people you surround yourself with. He cares about who you talk to, who you listen to, and who influences your decisions. Why? Because people have power. They can either build what God has placed in you or destroy it slowly. Many people lose their peace, faith, and purpose not because of the devil directly, but because of wrong relationships.
God wants you to associate with the right people. From them, you will gain wisdom, encouragement, and strength. Right people will help you grow in faith, make wise choices, and become a better person. Today, make a decision to walk away from harmful relationships. Ask God to give you good friends who will strengthen your faith and guide you in wisdom.
Prayer: Lord, separate me from wrong relationships and connect me with wise and godly.
“The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Proverbs 12:26
